The Most Important Thing to Know in Life: Who Are You?

From the Hakdamah, in the Rav’s own words.

“To recognize yourself is the most difficult of all things… I know that in Slabodka, they spoke about recognizing the real motives of a person for years and years.”

“They all agree, and with one voice they all say, ‘You must recognize your faults.’ It’s not easy; don’t deceive yourself. Secondly, you must know what to do about it. And we just learned a third thing: You have to do it.”
